Your wow.exe is just fine then. Edit your your wow.mfil and the realmlist.wtf to localhost and see what happens.Edit2: Did you try to edit the "server" in your wow.mfil too? Set it (and the location) to localhost.

Exactly the same. I can launch WoW.exe and then it crashes when I try to login. I figured out that it most likely has to do with this "streaming", that is the game downloading data while you play, a "feature" added in newer client versions. That's why I cannot launch with original wow.mfil file - because the location stored there cannot be accessed offline. However, when I change it to localhost, the location can still be accessed offline, and because the menu is actually downloaded, it lets me launch WoW.exe... for a little. Then, when I try to login, the game most likely tries to access some files it doesn't have yet and that's why the crash occurs.
I don't really know much about this streaming. Does it end eventually when everything is downloaded? Does streaming occur just when WoW is running, or do I have to "trigger" every download by doing something? It seems more and more unlikely I will ever be able to run Cataclysm offline... I will probably have to play WotLK. But that's a real shame, since I've found an awesome server repack for 4.0.6a... Well, tell me what You think about it, and thanks again.
Edit: I'll go sleep in a half an hour and I will try my last resort option. xD I will let WoW update to 4.3.3, and then I will downgrade it to 4.1.0, because my server works for 4.1.0 as well and I've seen more ways to downgrade to 4.1.0 than to 4.0.6a - probably some of them won't need streaming, and the obtained downgraded version will be "fully downloaded", at last. I will update WoW during the night, check it tomorrow and let You know if it helped.![]()

If you haven't started updating again:
Change your wow.mfil back to the original:
Then start your server. Start wow (realmlist set to localhost) while you have internet connection -> Log in -> Create a character -> enter the world.Code:version=2 server = akamai location = http://ak.worldofwarcraft.com.edgesuite.net/wow-pod-retail/EU/12911.str*eaming/ manifest_partial=wow-14545-478639942F98CD0BF6F9EA82809728EB.mfil or something like that :P :D run repair.exe to be sure.
You can exit wow, shut down your server. Edit back wow.mfil location and server to localhost. Now log in and enter with your created character, or try to create a new one. SHouldn't be a problem.
Also make sure to delete cache and wtf folders before trying.

It didn't work either. The only thing that changed was that the game did not crash when I attempted to create a character offline. It did, however, disconnect me. The crash still occured when trying to log in with other character, though.
Well, I think I will just use WotLK then. Are you sure no problems like these will occur with WotLK? If so, then that's great! Is it possible to downgrade to WotLK, or do I have to use new installation?
Thanks.![]()
You can not downgrade from 4.0.6 to 3.3.5. So you must reinstall wow and manually install the patches. Ooooor download a 3.3.5 "portable" wow from a torrent site.
I'm 100% sure you can play offline with 3.3.5. Good luck and have fun.
Yep, everything working like a charm! Too bad I had to give up on Cataclysm, but oh well. Thanks for help!
