    3.3.5a Vanilla Server request

Title says it all. I wrote a description of how I imagined it.
I have a dedicated host, but I'm looking for people with large expertise and experience to help me build this server. Are you interested in becoming a part of this awesome project? Send me a PM, a mail ([email protected]) or just comment the thread. Thanks!

    Project Vanilla – The Resurrection
    What is Project Vanilla?
Project Vanilla builds on the concept of modifying a WOTLK 3.3.5a server into an oldschool vanilla server. Vanilla has always been my favorite part of World Of Warcraft and I want everyone that started playing World of Warcraft in TBC, WOTLK and Cataclysm to experience the game as it was in it’s true form.
Although I want it to be as authentic as possible, Project Vanilla would include all the good parts from Vanilla, TBC and WOTLK. TBC and WOTLK wasn’t all shit, it brought something good actually. For example flying mounts, Dungeon Finder, Radom Battleground Finder, arenas, better graphics, auto-dismount, now models(both items and creatures) etc. etc.
All these “good” things that were introduced to World Of Warcraft after the TBC release will be included in Project Vanilla.
There are plenty of 1.12.1 servers, why don’t you play there?
Well, to be honest, patch 1.12.1 is pretty much shit. It is missing so much details that we take for granted in today’s World Of Warcraft. For example, in 1.12.1 you have to dismount manually by deactivating the buff, it is true!
I tried to play at Phoenix for a while, but it wasn’t as fun as I remember it. Now that I’m used to paladins being able to heal and that I don’t have to spend a day in the LFG channel or three weeks in an Alterac Valley battle, I soon get bored due to my laziness.

    Project Vanilla – Detailed description

    Leveling:

Leveling in Project Vanilla will as close to retail as possible, the experience rate will be 3 times higher. I’m the leveling part slightly easier than on retail, since I want people to focus more on the end-game content than on leveling their characters.
    Max level will be 60.
    Gold:
Making money in Project Vanilla will be exactly as on retail. This is to maintain the economy and keep the inflation at a minimum.

    Equipment:

There will be added custom D1-2 and Tier 1-3 in Project Vanilla. Of course the custom gear won’t be any super gear, it will similar stats to gear that already exists. The reason custom tiers will be added is that in Vanilla, classes only had one, sometimes two, purposes. For example classes with healing abilities were healers and nothing else; they did not DPS or tank (as for example druids and paladins can).
An example on a custom tier is a “Judgement” tanking tier for paladins that will have similar stats to the warriors “Wrath” tier.
Custom tiers for Death Knights will be made and added to the bosses’ loot tables.
Custom arena gear will be made with similar stats to the gear you get for honor points.
Custom PvP-gear will be added for the same reasons as the tiers.
Other than that equipment will be more or less like retail. There will be no donator super gear.

    Death Knights:
Death Knights will be enabled in Project Vanilla. They weren’t a part of the actual Vanilla, but I decided to include them anyway. They will have custom tiers and PvP-gear made and vital abilities that aren’t yet usable at level 60 will be added through custom solutions.

    NPCs’:

NPCs’ in Project Vanilla will all be scripted and as retail-authentic as possible. Some bosses will have their HP and damage outputs modified for the sake of the gaming experience, but they will still be very retail-authentic.

    PvP:

PvP in Project Vanilla won’t be what it was in patch 1.12.1, but what it was in 3.3.5a, meaning that you don’t fight for ranks, but for honor points.
Arenas will be enabled and work exactly as in retail.
You will be able to purchase PvP gear, weapons and mounts with the honor points you make in battlegrounds and the arena points (and rating) you make in arenas. Some gear will have their required points modified.
You will be able to use the “Random Battleground” system, which means you can access battlegrounds automatically, no matter where you are in the world.

    Battlegrounds that will be available:
    Warsong Gulch
    Arathi Basin
    Alterac Valley
    Eye of the storm

    Raids:

Raiding in project Vanilla will be as retail-authentic as possible. Some bosses will be slightly different due to hard scripts but they will still be pretty much the same.
Instead of having the bosses dropping two pieces of tiers, the bosses will instead drop custom tokens which are usable for 3-4 classes each (as in retail today). These emblems can be exchanged for tier parts at custom vendors.
The bosses will drop the same loot as they did in Vanilla, except for the tier parts that has been changed to tokens.

Naxxramas will be rebuilt into a level 60 40-man raid, having all the vanilla loot restored the bosses' loot tables.

    Dungeons:

Dungeons will work exactly as they did in Vanilla, with some boss fights that are slightly different (as explained in the “Raids” part).
You will be able to use the “Random Dungeon Finder” tool.
    Achievements & titles:
Achievements will be enabled and work exactly as in patch 3.3.5a of retail
Custom achievements will be made that award custom titles, since there are no titles awarded from Vanilla raids.

    Release process:

    Beta version:

The beta of Project Vanilla will be released in different stadiums. To prevent bugs we will only release ten levels at the time, so that we can remove all possible bugs there is
For example: 1-10 will be released first. Players will play and report bugs. When all the bugs are fixed, we go on to 10-20 etc. This also applies to raids, they will be released and tried out, one at the time.
No characters will be kept from the beta, everything is reset when the real version is released!

    Real version:

When the real version is released, one raid will be released at the time, starting with Zul’gurub and Ruins of Ahn’qiraj. After a couple of months we release Molten Core, etc. (As it is in retail). This also applies to arena seasons.
    Talents:
Players will be given 71 talentpoints even though they are only level 60. I don’t see no reason to have it reduced. The gaming experience won’t be jeopardized by this.
    Northrend and Outland:
Northrend and Outland will be inaccessible, this is not a part I had planned to include into my private server. Nor will I include any gear from the TBC or the WOTLK expansion, some model ID’s will be used for custom gears though. For example: arena gear, Death Knight tiers etc.

Why not do this on the cataclysm client?

I would love to do this on the cataclysm client actually. Being able to play worgens and goblins, having the game-world modified for flying mounts. But unfortunately, the cataclysm cores available still has severe bugs that I’m not really skilled enough to fix, and I only think there is a handful of people that knows how to fix those bugs.
The 3.3.5a WOTLK trinity core has a lot less bugs and it will work perfect for this private server.

    Staff requirements:

To be able to create this private server as I had intended it, the following people will be required.
    • Developers, scripters and programmers – If you feel that you have any experience whatsoever that is related to any of these positions, don't hesitate to contact me.
    • Web designer(s) - Someone with great skill in HTTP and Java that knows how to integrate a wow realm with a website.
Additional staff requirements will be made when the server is ready for launch. For example Game Masters and promoters(advertisers).

    Profit:

All profit made of any kind will be spent on improving the server, advertising etc. No one on the server team is going to profit economically.
