Updating wow

hey Guyz...i recently decided to patch up my WOW to 4.0.6....so i downloaded the required patch files,but i dun know wat 2 do with those files..
Patching WoW from 3.3.0 to 4.0.0 | World of Warcraft Life
i refered to this above guide...but the guide states tat run the bacgrnd downloader in the update folder...but i dun hav ny update folder in my wow directory.
i hav done the 1st n the 2nd step in the guide correctly but m stuck at the 3rd one.
i e1 tried running the background downloader in the wow folder...but i get the following message "data for next file not available"
i copied all the downloaded patch files in the wow folder but still the same message..
i also got a file along with the patches named "wow updater.exe"
i tried running tat file n it strts downloading files...i guess its downloading all the patch data again,which i dun wanna do so ny leads here..plzz help me out

ok i have managed to patch my wow to 4.0.0 using the blizzard installer,
but how to patch it up to 4.0.6???

thnx for the link....but as ive said ive already downloaded the required patch files.....ive also updated my client to version 4.0.0 via the blizard installer....but i dun know how to update it to 4.0.6.....ive only got the .MPQ files for the 4.0.6 version but how to apply tat file..plzz help me

You don't touch the MPQs when you're updating your client, just run the exe that you downloaded from the WoWWiki page.

hmmm i found this on the wiki page
Note: There are two parts to the 4.0 patch:

Conversion from 3.3.x to 4.0.1.12911, mostly using data from the background downloader (which includes installing the new streaming launcher) — 4.9-5.3GiB
Updating from 4.0.1.12911 to 4.0.1.13164, done via the new launcher using the streaming method — 1.4 GiB

The links listed herein only cover the first part as the second part can only be done via the launcher for the time being
as it states i ve done the first step...ill try the second step..
i opened the wow launcher n it starts updating to patch 4.2..ill post bak ice i finish streaming .....thnx a lot,Hope it works.

my launcher version is 4.0.0.12911..n when it starts streaming it shows tat ive to stream 8.7gigs of data..OMG
is it till 4.2??? if yes ny way to stop it till 4.o.6...n also wat do i do with the .MPQ files for 4.0.6
i know m being a noob... but its kinda new for me

ok i m downloading the incremental file 4.0.0.12911 → Patch 4.0.1.13164 which is in a .exe format
i hope i reach to 4.0.6
