How do I connect to my server?

Of course I have looked on how to fix this issue. Its always edit my realmlist.wtf or repair and try editing it again and again. Well, I tried this and it still won't work. What I do is edit the realmlist to 127.0.0.1 and try to connect by using the WoW.exe and it type in my retail info and it still logs me in the retail version. Every time i try to edit the realmlist it always takes me to the retail version. I have looked in editing the config.wtf in the WTF folder, but not sure what exactly to do, but I think it was add the realmlist part and i tried that but still failed. One thing that I cleary noticed was alot of private servers have their own launcher and I can click on those and it changes my realmlist to their ip and I can play on their server. I been having problems, but don't know how to fix. Please help and thanks

After you have set it to "127.0.0.1" in your 'realmlist.wtf', log in with just your username. If you try and login with an email, it will instantly connect you to retail.
