Which core for dedicated Linux server?

Hey guys, been outta the MMowned loop for a while (and the WoW loop to). I recently got a new computer so I've set my old one up as a dedicated Linux box.

    My questions are:

    1. What is the best Emu server right now (especially for Linux).
    2. Are there any good guides for Linux servers right now?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    1. There is no such thing as "the best emu server". And by server im guessing you are referring to the core. But as I was saying, there isnt a best one, it is a matter of your own opinion.
    2. There are several on the official core websites.

Its refering to best ran on linux.
The best choices for running something on linux is ManGOS and Trinitycore.

No, I think he meant the best server, not just on linux since he put "especially linux" in paranthesis as in "If the best server is also the best on linux then it will be great".

Atleast thats how i interpreted it.

I guess some people just find it hard to input their question into a field and press enter.

Off-Topic: Some people see "Server", "Core", and "Emulator" as synonyms. He meant core. (I believe).

On-Topic: If you did mean core, go with Trinity. Their documentation is certainly the best at the moment, so you should have an easy time getting everything set up.
If you're interested, a guide to compile the core and get everything else running can be found here

P.S. Terrorblade, I'm loving your new sig. :P

Personally, for question number one, I would prefer MaNGOS based emulators for a dedicated Linux box, due to the stability of the software. On the other hand, I don't believe any cores are specifically optimized for a Linux machine (most developers use Windows), even though they support Linux. So really, it's just a choice of which Core you like the most.
As for the second question: I have made a guide a few months back on "How to compile MaNGOS on Debian". Most distros should be similar in compiling cores (excluding the package names).

Just got back to this thread from a couple weeks ago.

    1. Yeah by this question I meant core. The reason I ask is back in 2007/2008 when I last did some Emu stuff, Mangos was a good general server, but was far behind in scripting and custom content type of stuff (vendor malls, etc), and while it was generally the easiest to set up, it just wasn't as good as some of the others.

    2. I'll look into that guide Sonic, thanks.
