    Project School v1 (Need Feedback)

    Project School v1
    Hey MMOwned

My 10th grade is coming to an end
I've gotten an assignment and i decided to do a Private Server
I've done servers past years but it was as a hobby and it was not made right (i think not)
I need a stable core (Arcemu,Mangos,Trinity) for 3.3.5 it has to run smooth and have high values like 99999999
    Ideas are welcome!

    Check List: (will be update)
    Core choice 100%
    Scripting 3%
    Ideas 75%
Good places in wow 0% I need a place to fit in a tiny mall selling random things
    Find Repack 100%

I prefer ArcEmu since I decided to grow my skill in lua more than just advanced. I know people say mangos and trinity are much more stable than arcemu, but I haven't met any problem with the server itself yet. Highly customizable and the best choice if you want to do something extreme (not blizzlike I mean). The lore should be yours, if you meet any troubles, or just need help in anything expect core editing, I'll try to help

Well I wish you good luck with your project!

    I suggest ArcEmu aswell.

And as for the compiling, I suggest that you download Visual Studio 2010 if you do not already have it.

And if you think that you might have it, then i suggest that you check twice, cause you may have downloaded the free "Express" version which you can not compile ArcEmu with afaik.

Compiling the core however is not much harder than a click of a button.

Navigate to "trunk\win" in the folder where you put the source code. And find "arcemuVC100 - All Projects.sln". You might see that is says Debug towards the top of the window, if it does then change it to Release. If it doesnt say Debug then it will most likely say Release.

After that click "Build" and then "Build Solution".

And then you are done. Navigate to "trunk\bin" and collect your core files.

Notice that there are plenty of guides here and on other forums, but not with the new method. Make sure you use the https://arcemu.svn.sourceforge.net/s.../arcemu/trunk/ to download the source

ArcEmu definitely. Your doing it for a personal project and you want to be able to add functionality fast without having to rewrite how things are handled to add your own customisations.

However, bear in mind emulation is not legal, so is it really wise to do something like this for school? I know I would get in trouble with the exam board and certain teachers.

Use the official ArcEmu guide, it's up to date and has everything you need: Compiling: Windows - ArcEmu-wiki

The libraries are in \extras\arcemu-windows-libraries and you just need to copy DLL's to your core folder.

I had the same problem after i finished with the compiling the only difference is that I'm using x32 not x64. I started to download the DLLs one by one which seemed slow so I downloaded an arcemu repack fast copied all the DLLs in to my servers directory and it worked. Btw I followed the new guide on the arcemu forum and my DLL directory both are empty, but I made no mistake, I don't know why this happens.

Okay i've got a core and i am trying to get a database BUT my guide tells me to use navigate (i hate it) and i want to use HediSQL so i did that and now my guide wants me to do a "Execute SQL file" wich i cant find in heidiSQL

i also think i am missing files like "worldserver" that are normally in repacks, where or how do i get those?
