MySQL Error 1130

Hi there,

I realize there are a few similar threads about this problem but after reading through them they dont seem to offer any help or advice to fixing my problem.

My problem occours when I try to install a new MySQL server, I run the InstanceConfigWizard and go through all the standard set up procedures, but once I get to the last page I get stopped by an error code: Er. 1130.


If thats hard to read it basically says: "Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server"

I have attempted to do what other posters have suggested before, ie: Stop the MySQL service, remove instance via wizard, uninstall MySQL, Delete all files I can find on my HD associated with MySQL, restart my computer, and then re-installing MySQL. After doing these steps a few times I'm still getting Error 1130.

Hopefully with the screens I've posted someone out there will be able to help!

Make sure your logged on to a account with the privileges to install software. If you are right click on the installer and click Run as administrator. Also make sure that your firewall is allowing for the program to create a connection on localhost. You could just try disabling it all together and see if it works. Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall>Turn windows firewall on or off (left hand side)
