Complete Noob needs help with server set up

Hi I went through [Epic Guide] Setting Up and Running an ArcEmu Server from Scratch! to set up a server on my computer just so i can learn how to do all this I realize the guide is out of date but I figured I would be able to at least get a working server out of it and that was my goal.

anywhere here is where I'm at and maybe I can get some help. from what I can tell I have a working server my logonserver and world.exe both run without error but I cant find how to create an account and from what I can tell on the guide the server version is 3.0.9 and I cant find patches to make my game compatible for it

any ideas?

Some time since i was into EMU.
But you need a DB editor to make yourself an account. (Navicat & Sqlyog)
You need to delete your patch.MPQ in your WoW Data folder, and then pacth up till 3.0.9.

I have navicat and no idea how to use it. and the auto patcher from blizz jumps from 3.0.1 to 3.3.0 now so i need to find an alternate method of patching

You could go to wowwiki and manually download them.
In your character database in Navicat, you can add accounts I think.. Or then it's in Logon.

Open navicat, look at the table named character, then select account, edit account, password, gm and flags columns, done!

uh oh i think i did something wrong on my set up then cause there are no tables in my character thing... and since pictures are worth 1000 words here is what I'm looking at

Run the character.sql on the char table.

can i get that broken down a bit more :/ sorry i did say i was a complete noob and i only got this far by following step by step instructions i don't actually understand how any of this works or what it does yet

You should have some files named:
character.sql
logon.sql
world.sql
You're then supposed to right click on char, logon, world in Navicat, and import those .sql files.

Ok i think I'm making progress I think i got the account set up but i realized there may be something wrong with my server after all it doesn't stay up when i open it i get fast scrolling text that says this



Any ideas?

You need to delete your DBC folders and re-extract them using a tool named ad.exe that supports your client version. Copy ad.exe to you WoW dir, run it once, then copy the dbc folder to your emu folder.

How is that a shitty guide? It looks fine to me and I doubt he can run SQLs using the MySQL CMD tool. Besides in the guide It tells you to download the source from the svn.
