    OpCode/Packet Introductory help

Heya, not sure if anyone can help me with this, but here it goes.

I'm looking for an introductory or beginners guide to working with opcodes/packets in IDA with a disassembled WoW client.

I have an alright understanding of packet sending/recieving, along with opcodes, but I am just somewhat lost as to where to get started in IDA. I've spent a few hours picking through the psuedo code, but just can't seem to recognize any useful information inside.

If someone could point me in the direction of a guide/tutorial that you used to get started, it would be greatly appreciated. However, if you didn't begin with any form of guide, I'd like to hear how to got the hang of it.

    Thanks,

    -Haith

[Edit]: As well, I keep hearing about CMSG and SMSG definitions, which I assume make these opcode easier to pick out? If anyone could explain how the definitions work, that would help too

I've tried searching for tutorials myself, but apparently there are no decent ones that go over everything. They often tell me "look at the documentation" on how to work something, but when there is no documentation it is quite frustrating. I want to learn, not copy. What I know so far is through a variety of random guides that are not that useful and through trial and error.

If you do find one, please say.

Haha, yeah, that's what I'm guessing from the looks of it.

I'll keep searching, and if I do manage to find one, I'll post it right away

[Edit]: I just remembered this now, I did actually stumble across a guide of the sort last night, however it doesn't really help with what I am after.

It explains how to find an opcode's details, once the opcode is already obtained.

Anyway, here is the link; you may be able to benefit from it:
