Well, I have news. I tried impersonating a Blizzard employee like you would at WotLK beta (it worked back then!) and found out that to get into the Alpha this year, rights are not distributed by keys, but an account is activated on the Blizzard servers to play the Cataclysm Alpha. This is what they were doing with the first handouts of the SC2 beta keys; they didn't give a key, but just tossed the game onto your account and allowed you to download it from there. They may revert to the key system later, but for the closed Alpha, they are doing it by choice.

I sent in 2 fake battle.net accounts tonight, and I may get confirmation tomorrow; I have no clue if it'll work, or if Jonathan LeCraft thinks I'm a fake and is trying to catch my real account. Hopefully it works. If it does, looks like we might have a sandbox running in a day or 2.

2. lets hunt down a family member of blizzard, steal their computer and Ctrl+C Ctrl+V thir wow folder.
3. choke a private server developer until he agrees to someway do a private server for the copied client we stole.

Guys, you know Pre-WotLK? When we had an event one week before the actual release, I have a feeling that would not be the only event 1 week before
So, we might actually haev an event just before Cataclysm.

You do not need a extra-cataclysm-server to play it.

There's a big chance that you will need some minor adjustments, as for log in packets etc. But, if you're lucky it may work.

this , we did it with the alpha of WOTLK , with the source of a TBC one , me and my dev team got already (we think so like we did with alpha wotlk ) a Private server ready for Cataclysm , we just don't release it because there is no client and we don't want to publish something that doesn't work :P (we would like to test first )
