[MPQ] Question about editing

I exported the item.dbc from the locale-enUS into a MPQ I made using MyWarcrafTStudio and proceeded to try to add a row to it, apparently the add rows button doesn't work and I couldn't add any rows to put in my data. Is there a program I can use to edit the .dbc file so I can add in my own item values?

Hi, you extract the .dbc on your desktop, you download DBCUtil. You put the .dbc on DBCUtil.exe to convert him in .csv. You can edit this file with notepad. After you put again the .csv on DBCUtil.exe to convert back in .dbc.

you can also edit dbc in navicat(much faster than converting and then editing), try this

Navicat is a database program, not a DBC file manager, you need something like DBCUtil not navicat.

Well I finally got around to it, converted it to csv, modded it, converted it back, doublechecked it in MyWarCraft studio to check if it was alright. Then I proceeded to put the patch-W.MPQ I made into the Data folder, booted the client, and it still doesn't register the custom items right. Do I have to go into the Locale-enUS and do it directly? Or did I mess something up?
