Odd connection problem

When I try to log into my server with my Private Server Account I get an error saying cannot connect, but when I use my live account info I connected straight to the Blizz servers. I have changed my realm list and cleared the Cache folder, what is my problem?

Check the path of the realmlist and ensure that you are changing it. For example if you have two folders with wow one for Private and one for Retail than you could be changing either the wrong realmlist or using the wrong WOW.exe to start the game.

If you are ABLE to log into retail its because something is wrong in your paths and you are still connecting to retail servers.

I have ensured that I am changing the correct realmlist.WTF and I am still getting the same problem.

Please show me your realmlist.wtf file, and take a print screen of the folder that it is in. Thank you.

My Realmlist that I have currently is 127.0.0.1 the local host.

yeah i've been getting the same issue lately, except it just says invaild username and password not cannot connect.

Oddly I had been playing on a private server and changed it to a different server, i have not connected to retail anytime recently but now it only connects with my retail info to blizz servers.

Is your retail account bnet? Because this has been talked about many times before. Logging in with your bnet account auto magically connects to bnet servers even if your realmlist is changed.
