A repack is a package with a compiled core, mysql setup, and a database. Theres no way to customize or fix any potential problems with the emulator.

A "core" is the emulator YOU compile.

    Not nessecarely

There are still people who release core-only, (like in the old days of Mangos for example) Some searching skills are required however, to set up Mysql, get the compatible database, scripts, etc

For someone new, this would actually be a better way to get started and understanding of the project then simply using a rapack.

Generally, The core is your emulator program, which works together with the information from your Mysql databases.

In your Mysql databases all static and variable information of your server is stored. As far as Im aware (I am a mangos user so correct me if im wrong) All emulators use 3 databases: A character-, a world- and a script database.

You can set these up yourself seperately, or use a "repack" which does everything for you. The problem withusing a repack is, that you dont know what is done exactly, and will have a hard time altering and/or configuring everything.

If you want to "try out" a wow emulator, you can try a repack. But if you are any serious about setting up a (public)server, you should take the time getting to understand how to set up all components seperately, and what their functions are.

    good luck

    Repacks generally include:
DBC files, Databases, the core, scripts, modules, etc.

Cores are basically the barebone server. (Arcemu logon/worldserver, Hearthstone logon/worldserver, etc)
