[Question] Making Custom Items In-Game

Alright, so, I was wondering if it is possible to set up a new kind of profession skill. Not a whole skill itsself (like alch, blacksmith, etc), but beable to make a new item in the selected profession.

I made a couple sets, which are about 10-15% stat upgrade of certain gear. I would like to have it, so if people get mats, they would be abe to make this gear, rather then just having a vendor. Ya know, keep it more kinda blizzlike.

I haven't seen any servers with this sort of idea, so I expect that it can't be done. If someone can confirm that this is or isn't possible?

hmm you cud just edit the stats of certain blacksmithed gear pieces...just my 2 cents hoped this helped

you'll probably have to make custom spells which requires alot of DBC editing and the likes, and you'll have to force people into downloading custom patches, all in all not really worth it.
What is possible however, is to have a custom item and make it check if a player has the required materials, and if so, remove the materials and add the item to the players inventory.

Damn. Yeah, I know what you're saying, but that would make it so players have to wait for a GM or someone to read their ticket.

Lol oh well. Might as well make them drops or something.

what you could do is make a webpage that will remove the reagents from players bags and insert the item they make if they have enough reagents
So instead of a prof.... people would still have to gather reagents but they can make the item trough an item creation page on your website...

Yikes, this is coming a little late.. but what about making it a quest? An NPC blacksmith asks for required materials, and rewards the player with the item(s)?
