[Help]Buying a dedicated host

Hey guys so ive been looking at buying a dedicated host, here are the stats i was looking at.


OS:Fendora
Ram:1 gig
Bandwith:1000Gbs
PRocessor:Intel Single PRocessor 2.4ghz
10mbp Unmetered or 100mbps with the (1000gbps)


How many people could this hold? This is around 40 bucks a month please tell me a better deal maybe or is this good enough.

1 gig ram = worthless to host a public server :-/
Maps load into ram for example... the more maps people explore the more ram...
example: our server 95 players online -> 1333.844 MB Ram usage...
If it had 4gigs or 8gigs you would have a good server (if the connections speed was same upload/download)

Personally, most emulators run stabler on Windows Server 2003.

You HAVE to run it on windows if you have any custom dlls. Linux can't read dlls and therefor can't load them. I ran a server on ubuntu and it failed on its face.

k thanks for the advice, i get the basic idea. At least 2 gigs ram, and Windows Server 2003. Would you guys know a good company to buy from? Everything i see has windows server 2003 for like 25 more a month pisses me off =(

has been posted before here somewhere i think... they offer nice windows servers
