how do ppl connect to my database?

how can i configure mysql so that ppl can connect to my db?


when i installed mysql, i slected "allow remote" as yes.


what ive tried:

open port 3306 both upd and tcp in router/ firewall

my domain is "thejuice.kickass.net" updated with latest ip


what am i missing?

First of all. Hide your info or anyone can connect to you.
Secondly, when you connect to your server, connect as user root and not juice.
Third, when you set the Host in the users table, you set the machines IP/Hostname from WHERE you are connecting, NOT to. E.g. Your friends IP address.
Fourth, the '%' means anyone can connect from anywhere to your machine or in otherwords, all machines!

The problem is it looks like the server is on Localhost, so outside clients cannot connect to your server.

The server is always on localhost... To itself!
You CAN connect as long as there is a use that is allowed to connect from a certain location.
Like the '%' meaning all machines.

the problem was that i was entering the domain name, so when i entered the IP it allowed both the domain and ip to connect
