i wanna make my server public, just a small server to chill on, im not going for like 500 people on my server buying servers and all that, just lookin for like 50 ppl max and a few of my friends as GMs maybe more, and i need an estimate on how much my old comp could hold (im using my old comp to host the server)

    here are the spec's
    Intel(R) Celeron(R)
    2.53 GHz speed
    1gig RAM
    Windows XP home edition
    Nvidia GeForce 6200
    -Video RAM 256MB
    -Video card 3D acceleration
    -Video HW transform and lighting
    45.9 Gigs of free space

And im going to Wipe the computer's harddrive tomorrow.

    gimi an estimate xD

Comcast HIgh speed internet is what i got

I need an estimate of how many ppl i could hold

Gonna be determined MORE by your Upload speeds id thinik..and youll probably go through a gig of ram pretty quick.. uncompressed one part of the emulator can use 1.2 gigs itself..

Im sure though with that setup you'd be fine with 20-30 people maybe.
It just wouldnt be the recommended set up

give exact upload/download speeds... that is important..; and with that ram you won't hold a lot of people OR you would have to restart the server all the time
we have 100 players online average and memory usage (RAM) is from 1gig-4gigs so yes you would need atleast 2 or 3 gigs of ram... and depending on your upload and download speed we would be able to say how much people more exacly

Upload of 1.5 Mbps is pretty decent. I ran a server through Hamachi for a while with a ~512 Kbps upstream, on a lame-ass rig, and I could host 5 or 6 players with no visible lag. If you're serious about keeping the server up, you may want to drop 20 bucks and get another gig of RAM, or make sure your page file is large enough. Only time and testing will really tell, but I'd be willing to bet you could get around that many people.

That is a nice upload speed download speed should not be any problem... so i would say with a gig or 2 more ram maybe make it 3 extra gigs of RAM and you will host 100 players online (you would have connection lagg when a lot of people are on 1 place or for example when there are 2 or 3 raid groups in 1 instance)

    grtz
