Yeah I am running windows vista, I tried turning off User account controll thing and it still does not work! I also downloaded the mysql one you posted, the x64 windows one, and it said it is not supported by my processor, which is amd athlon 64x2. Any more help suggestions?!

Try running adUS.exe again, if it doesn't work then try running it in compatibilty mode.

I think if I remember correctly that that is something to do with not having .NET installed. Google it and download it off Microsofts website.

Right, Windows Vista. God I hate that thing... my laptop has it and its annoying... anyways...
Do not download x64 version. Get the other version.
Right, uninstall your current version of MySQL and then restart your PC.
Then go to control panel and disable UAC like I said.
Make sure it is disabled and then install MySQL.
That should work...

Hey im running vista also (32-bit Vista). Im able to get MySQL (5.0.45 for 32-bit) working, but there is only one thing. When im trying to "execute" after putting the passwords it says: "Could not start the service MySQL5". It makes "Prepare configuration", "Write configuration file" but when it comes to "Start Service" theres only red cross and it wont proceed. What to do?

Hey when you said open logon server.exe i did and it comes up with an error saying ( this application has failed to start because the application configure is incorrect. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem.) please help! lol

i dont have the ascent .conf file, i have all other .conf files but not ascent...-_-

Alright I did everything you said and it still won't work! I downloaded the first windows mysql, not x64, the UAC controll thing IS NOT checked, I even had nothing running when I downloaded plus installed, I completely unistalled then restarted and still nothing! Could there be any more I can do? Please help!

ascent.conf is called ascent-world.conf
This can be found in your main Ascent file E.G ascent 4005
