    in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft Beta\Data\enUS there was the Realmlist.txt i changed that to set realmlist 127.0.0.1, but it doesn't seem to work

    It's realmlist.wtf not txt.

    Is this a whole different client? Or can i just change my realmlist and get on? Never done anything like this.

    if you have wow patched to the current version, you can download a client Here and once fully patched and what not you can change your realmlist. There are allot more-in depth guides on this site, so you can probably just browse along.
