[Guide]How to Port forward (router and no router)

Ok i have noticed that when you have a modem with no router that you cant port forward so you run into problems with the website and people cant log on your server, etc.

I know how to fix that so here's a guide for both(Pictures included in no router area)

No Router Port Forwarding(or Modem only)

    1. Click your start menu, then find control panel and then double click windows firewall

    2. Click on the 'Exceptions' Tab and click Add Port...

    3. In the box you will see Name: Port Number: and then TCP UDP. You type your name then put your port number like 3306 then click TCP and ok, Then type name2 3306 then UDP you have to insert it twice

    then

Do this for all the ports listed below:
    Code:
    80
    3036
    3306
    3724
    6112
    6881
    8050
    8093
    8129
    Router Port Forwarding
    1. Go to your browser and type in 192.168.15.1 or 192.168.1.1 or your External IP which is said at What Is My IP Address? - IP Address Lookup, Internet Speed Test, IP Info, plus more

    2. (this is how u know if u have a router)If you have a router u will see a login page it says username and password. If not you will get an error loading the page. If you see a login page go to http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm and find your router (Usually says it on that page somewhere)

    3. After you find your router just click on it and skip the advertisement then you will see a games list. find World of Warcraft and click it. From there you should see a guide it tells you how to port forward with pictures. Theres usually default usernames/passwords for your router like admin/admin or user/user

once u get to the port forward area you should forward these ports listed below
    Code:
    80
    3036
    3306
    3724
    6112
    6881
    8050
    8093
    8129
That's all, Your website and stuff should work and your friends should be able to see it and log on your server.

if your hosting a server and you do not have a router and your wondering why your friends cant connect to your website or go in-game yet you followed all the steps then this firewall port forward will work. the way to see if u have a router is to type 192.168.15.1 or 192.168.1.1 into your web browser, if the page shows error then u dont have a router, if ut shows a log-in screen then u have a router

Yes you can. Its easy. Just look up your firewalls manufacturer eg (Norton, even though it sucks ill use it as an example) Then look for Norton Firewall Port Opening / Forewarding you should find something.

I type in my internal ip, and it comes up with neither an error or a login page. It comes up with a 'Thompson Gateway" thing that has no option for port forwarding or anything. Does anyone know what this means? Nice guide though

nice guide, i'm always using the µtorrent portchecker to check if my ports are realy opened.
Port Checker - µTorrent - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client

you have just to edit the last number in the url (here 5900)
