I need help pretty fast :S i have a problem with my friends to connect it just says unable to connect and i can fine log on and they changed the realmlist corecct and i made a acc for them on the DB ... do i have to get a registrtion page up or can it also work if i just create them in the DB and if not can any post a guide to get a homepage up :S

I don't know whats retarded about this computer that i'm on right now, but it doesnt even have a system32 folder in windows folder, it sais that it does- because when i tried creating one it said there was already one present, but its just not there. Any help on that? I did everything else, but just cant modify that hosts file.:confused:

Do i already need to have a private server for this to work? I mean, how do i start from scratch, all i got is just the regular wow, with blizz servers and shit. I played on other peoples private servers, but how do i create my own?

my MYSQL admin dont give the GREEN light ! :S it cant connect to Win 9X that is gray for me not possible to click and emm .. Win NT will not start so what the hell i need to do to start MYSQL ADMIN it need to give green light

ok i downloaded the dyndns updater, but wers the system folder thing? please tell me, and also with this private server and all, will i be able to go back to my normal WoW account? cause if i cant i dont wanna do this, i really want just private server and server wer i can play with freinds with normal WoW.

Try using Save As instead of just save, as for some reason notepad might be trying to save to some heinus location.

If you havent changed anything, your default username/password for mangos is simply....mangos - for both the username and the password.

Have you setup the realm and everything, not just the server? Make sure you run the two batch processes before having people connect...

Your username and password are both mangos for default when connecting to a ManGOs database.

That simply means to navigate to your windows folder, then to your system32 folder, then to the drivers folder, then the etc folder and open the file called host in it. The file 'host' is just a file, so you will have to right click and say 'Open With' and choose notepad. If WINDOWS is installed on your C:\ drive, then type this into your navigation bar in Windows Explorer

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc

@josefrag - I use two lines here, one looks like

127.0.0.1 mysever.dyndns.com
my.ip myserver.dyndns.com

Of course, replace myserver.dyndns.net with whatever the server you have at dyndns.com, and replace my.ip with whatever the IP that you have from dyndns.com is....

@daelas - If your windows folder is located on your C:\ drive, then simply use the navigation bar in Windows Explorer and type in...

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc

You probably have your computer configured to hide important system folders to prevent you from messing something up

@Monex - I'm unfortunatly having the same problem, whereas I am hosting the server on my laptop, where I can connect to the server fine, but I cannot connect from my PC (right next to my laptop.) I believe it is because all of the computers in my house have the same IP address, so I'm going to test from off-site locations Let me know if you find anything!

Well I tried to address as many problems as I could with my knowledge. If anyone knows why I cant connect to my server from my PC, however I dont have a problem connecting to the server with my laptop (where the server is hosted) please let me know =) Both computers are plugged into the same router/network, so I think that might be the problem.

ok i have blown through most of this guide and havent had trouble until i hit the Navicat area. i can make the connection fine, however when i click on the new connection i never see realmd or anything like that. What stupid mistake am i making?

ok i downloaded navicat and clicked on navicat patch thing, took me to website and my computers security went haywire..... i have in system 32 under "hosts" file 127.0.0.1 josefrag.dydns.com finished that now im trying to do navicat thing anyone plz help me step by step? and once im done can i go back to normal world of warcraft?

You will have no problem going back to the normal wow server, you will just have to change the realmlist.wtf file back to us.logon.worldofwarcraf.com or w/e the default one is. Just make sure you BACK UP YOUR REALMLIST.WTF file, just simply copy and paste it into the same folder so you have Copy of Realmlist.wtf in your World of Warcraft Folder. THen just open up your realmlist.wtf file and change it between the world of warcraft logon server and your private server address whenever you please.

I've got it all working and friends can be authenticated and connect.

The thing is, whenever i or them try and connect to the realm. I get the 'Connecting to realm' or whatever the message is, then it punts me back out to the realm select screen.

I too suffer from the same problem/ . What should i do?
