My second guide here. Today I'm will try to learn you how to find certain gameobject displayIDs.
For this, you will need two programs. WowModelViewer and MyWarCraftStudio.
Download links for both:
MyWarCraftStudio - Filebeam
WowModelViewer - Filebeam (Note it has a warcraftstudio file in it, don't use it. That version of that program is bugged)
To start with, you will open up WowModelViewer. It should look something like this then.
You can find different things by using this program. But we will only now gonna look on gameobject.
Click now where it stands "world".
A list of different options will come up now. I can't realy explain all these. Even I don't understand how to find the object you are looking after here.
Well, now when you have find your object. I will just show how to find the GM chair in this guide.
The GM chair is located in world -> generic -> Human -> Passive doodas -> Chairs.
And got the name gmchairloend01.m2
Now we got the name of the object we will look after "gmchairloend01.m2", so now we are done in this program.
Now lets start up MyWarCraftStudio.
It should look something like this, exept the "Open MPQ Archive... ctr+O". To get this there, hold the mouse on the area I got it in the picture, and rightclick.
So, now lets click on it, and you will get up a open thing (Don't know the english name for it). But here you are supposed to locate your patch-enGB.MPQ / patch-enUS.MPQ file. This is located in your WorldofWarcraft folder. Then the folder named Data, then the folder named enGB/enUS. (Depends on what WoW you got).
Open now patch-enXX.MPQ. Then it should look something like this.
Click on DBFilesClient, and a big/huge list will appear. Don't worry. Take and find this part.
"GameObjectDisplayInfo is the name of the DBC file to open."
Now! A new window should open for you. Don't be scared, it got a search function
Remember the name we find before? gmchairleod01.m2 we found? Take and search for gmchairleod01 here. Or just gmchair is enough.
Here you got the line (You can also check the filename to make sure it's the file you are looking after.
At the left, you see a colum that is called ID. The number in this field are the display. And here you see the ID 5551, right?
The displayID of the GM chair is 5551
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okej, I want you to remember. Every object that is in WowModelViewer can't be found in MyWarCraftStudio (atleast I had a few that was impossible to find, for example the ropebridge)
But most can be found, and this are very useful.
Time for Credits.
Ofc some credits goes to me, for writing this guide. And I couldn't find another guide like this when I searched. Tell me if it already exist one.
But I also want to give some credits to someguy on mmowned. I can't remember his name, I think I asked sometime when the "rollback" happened. I asked him how to find objects displays.
And he gave me these two programs and explained some.
Whoever you are! If you feel like "Aah, I remember explaining this", tell me and I will add credits to you for helping me to learn this. (Also, my name at that time was Reyintaz).
