[Guide] Make your own leveling zone!

The following is a quick guide on how to set up a good leveling zone for your private server

    What you'll need:
    GM Status
Access and editing privileges to your servers Database.

    Step 1: Find a zone
For your leveling zone, you're going to need an extensive amount of room (depending on the level cap and experience rate of your server) so find a spot where players wouldn't normally travel and also a spot that wouldn't get in the way of a player's game experience. (i.e. Don't do it in the middle of Stormwind)

Some good zones to look at are:
Un-instanced Zul'Gurub (If you don't know how to get into it, just go to the outside of the instance entrance and ".cheat fly" over the large arch.)
    Hyjal
    Azshara Crater (
    .worldport 37 1003 281 327)

There are tons of other places you could do it at, you just need to explore (Try to pick long, flat areas. It makes it easier for players to navigate it.)

Step 2: Set up your starting area
Find a spot in your area that you would like the players to begin (Level 1) and make a 'Base Camp'.

To make it easier on yourself, you should make yourself a macro to change the faction of the NPC's you're going to spawn. (To make them usable for Horde and Alliance).

The macro should look something like this:
    .mod faction <ID #>
You can use any faction you want, just make sure its either friendly or neutral to both factions. I used 814 (Argent Dawn) for mine.

IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU SPAWN GAME OBJECTS, PUT A 1 AFTER THE COMMAND OR THEY WON'T BE THERE AFTER YOU RESTART YOUR SERVER. (i.e. .go spawn 1234 1)

Heres a list of some NPC ID's that you might need:

    Rogue trainer: 918
    Warrior trainer: 914
    Hunter trainer: 5515
    Priest trainer: 5489
    Paladin trainer: 928
    Druid trainer: 5504
    Warlock trainer: 5495
    Mage trainer: 5497
    Shaman trainer: 17204
    Woo Ping (Weapon Master): 11867
    Buliwyf Stonehand (Weapon Master): 11865
    Bixi Wobblebonk (Weapon Master): 13084
    Innkeeper: 6929

Now heres a list of some Game Object ID's you might need:
    Mailbox: 32349
    Portal to Undercity: 176501
    Portal to Thunder Bluff: 176500
    Portal to Orgrimmar: 176499
    Portal to Silvermoon: 182352
    Portal to Darnassus: 176498
    Portal to Ironforge: 176497
    Portal to Stormwind: 176296
    Portal to Exodar: 182351
    Portal to Shattrath: 184594

    Step 3: Setup a graveyard

Your players are going to need a graveyard that is located near the leveling area, so follow this guide and it'll show you how to set one up.
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/emulat...graveyard.html ([Guide] How to make your own graveyard)

    Step 4: Spawn the creatures

You need to organize how you spawn your creatures so that players don't get confused while trying to find the next set of levels. Heres a picture of a leveling zone I quickly made just to show you how to spawn your creatures without confusing your players.

They're all separated into distinct groups and as they the groups of creature go farther and farther into the zone, the levels get higher and higher. (Usually they go up my intervals of 3 levels for each group.)

The following is a list of creature ID's that you could spawn in your leveling zone in order from lowest level to highest (Remember, you don't have to use these creatures you can always find your own ):

    [Level 1]: 299
    [Level 6]: 525
    [Level 10]: 478
    [Level 15]: 124
    [Level 18]: 453
    [Level 21]: 565
    [Level 25]: 930
    [Level 30]: 683
    [Level 34]: 694
    [Level 37]: 1142
    [Level 41]: 1550
    [Level 44]: 1491
    [Level 47]: 5982
    [Level 51]: 6004
    [Level 55]: 7670
    [Level 57]: 7668
    [Level 62]: 19527
    [Level 64]: 18089
    [Level 66]: 12129
    [Level 68]: 19686
    [Level 69]: 21462
    [Level 70]: 19744

NOTE: If you want to make it easier on the players / prevent MASS aggro, find a faction that is attackable but neutral to players and make all of the creatures you summon that faction. (I used faction 32)

Step 5: Setting up a portal to your leveling zone

If you don't already know how to make a portal, go to:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/ascent...-winckler.html (How To Make A Custom Portal easy Newb Friendy Tutorial pWd By Winckler)

Once your portal is made you have to restart your server for it to work. After you restart you server, put the portal in all the starting zones (teleport to them using the .start command [i.e. .start bloodelf]) and you're good to go!

    Enjoy your new leveling zone

I didnt read. But just the screenshot is awful.

Would you play wow if zones were made like that ? Players will just aggro all the mobs, this not "natural", how a wolf would be like dumb here to wait with other wolfs?

    THIS IS SHIT !

The guide explains how you can place the mobs wherever you want to. This is an example that is easy to see and read.

Custom content requires that you put a little thought into it and maybe even make something a ltitle different than how soemoen else did it or even how someone else presented it to you as an example.

Go rethink your response and be constructive.

So since you have a better idea what is it and give an example of how you do it. That would be constructive.

To the mod. I think it was a good example and you explained yourself well.

    Thank You.

The screen shot wasn't a real leveling zone, I made it as an example for the sole purpose of this guide. If you had read anything from this guide you would have seen that I dealt with the aggro issue by saying:

NOTE: If you want to make it easier on the players / prevent MASS aggro, find a faction that is attackable but neutral to players and make all of the creatures you summon that faction. (I used faction 32)
I also never said this was supposed to be like retail WoW. Leveling zones serve the purpose of leveling your characters. The server probably has tons of other things to offer / have the players worrying about other than leveling to 70. Obviously if you want leveling up to be a main part of your server then you'd either put a lot more time into it or you'd just let them explore the 'natural' World of Warcraft. However, this guide was made for private servers that have better things to do. Please read my post before you criticize it.

It means that you need to be able to log into your server's SQL database and edit the data in the tables.

You have to re-log for the faction change to fully work if they've aggroed to you in the past.
