I need help installing this on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

I cannot get the ascent to login to the SQL

My Ascent 2.3.3 works fine but the 2.4.1 does not..

I have updates my SQL databases also to current (What is in the repack)

Navcat will not login to the 2.4.1 setup either


Note: I have a full SQL server thats independent machine

Ok, I got the server up, and it works great, but two questions.

1. How do I spawn mobs in the Isle of Quel'Danas and in the Sunwell instance? (update database for new items and npc's?)

2. More importantly, how do I make my server go public so my friends are able to logon?

i get this error when i hit execute at the end of the mysql configuration

"The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error.

if a personal firewall is running on your machine, please make sure you have opened the TCP port 3306 for connections. Otherwise no client application can connect to the server. After you have opened the port please press [retry] to apply the security settings.

if you are reinstalling after you uninstalled the MySQL server please note that the data directory was not removed automatically. Therefore the old password from your last is still needed to connect to the server. in this case please select skip now and re-run the Configuration Wizard from the start menu."

i tryed reinstalling mysql like 3 times and always the same error anyone got any ideas?

I've got it up and running pretty well, but it disconnects me when I try to make a new character (just past character customization). Any insight?

I use v 2 repack...and same error like in v 1...anytime i login and enter world, error will apear in moment when loading ends X_X can you post some database or something to repair this problem

so what are changes in V2 compared to V1.5?
Are the class/proffesion/weapon trainers fixed yet?

i also noticed some funny bugs in v1.5 , when i used totem with my shaman, or summoned felguard with with warlock, also some mobs they were all little white/blue box Also whats up with level 1 elite wolfs in most starting areas lol
And when i mount up i see no mount i get the mounted "buff" but i just walk or fly

* Im Running Windows VISTA *when i try to install MySQL service and check the Configure MySQL no window Pops up!!!* and when i try to get the window it comes up a window says " Cannot Open file, side-by-side Configuration something........ * And when i run Ascent-world/ascent-logon it wont work , it comes up same window about side-by-side something, i tryed this repack on my friends computer that got windows XP, it worked great...! i got VISTA! Please some 1 help me...:confused:

Pull out your internet and turn off your firewall (and antivirus programs that might have it, i use McAfee and had to turn it off) then restart your computer and check that their still turned off. It worked for me atleast :wave:

::Edit:: Opening tcp port 3306 didnt work for me when i was installing but i can run the server without the firewalls turned off

FOR THE PERSON RUNNING VISTA! You can get around this, but it'll require another short download. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Download mysql-essential-5.0.51a-win32.msi from the MySQL website, instead of the one linked on this forum.

2. Download and run Resource Hacker (download from: www.angusi.com)

3. Open ...\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe with/in Resource Hacker (after you initially install MySQL).

4. Navigate to 24\1\1033

5. Delete all the text that shows up in the 1033 window

6. Press "Compile script"

7. Exit Resource Hacker and save the result (overwrite the initial MySQLInstanceConfig.exe)

8. Now you can start and run MySQLInstanceConfig.exe normally and successfully.

It works if you do it correctly, it's what I did on my laptop with Vista which is now running this server, so enjoy!



P.S. Anybody know how to make this server go online for my friends to play as well? I'd really like to know how to do that... And less importantly, what about spawning the mobs and items for the Sunwell area?

Hello i got a small or arrrg a big problem :P when i try 2 start the server whit the .exe files or the luncher it said that i mabay need too reinstal the program (soory bad english)

Navve, i am not sure i understand your question right but, go to navicat, then open up database and double-click ''accounts'' Press ''+'' at the bottom and info u wanna to account.


acct: 1 | Login= you username u use when u log | password = password u use when u log | Enc. Password, leave it and go to next: gm = type az for admin powers. Then scroll bar to right and when theres ''flags'' type 8 to there if Burning Crusade. Force Lang Type EnUS there and your done, close all and login with your acc exp, if u put to login ex: ''Random'' And password ''987654''
