2.4.1 Accesable Server Setup

My repack doesn't have an ascent-ascent file.

And when I run ascent-logonserver I get an error:

ascent-logonserver.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I know how to fix the ascent-logonserver.exe failure. You need to download the .NET Framework update. You can either google ".NET Framework download" or go onto the microsoft website.

Download Version 3.5, install it, then restart your computer... It doesn't tell you to, but I did it anyway. This should fix this problem.

|Edit|: And also, I didn't get asked to change the service name when I was installing MySQL... Just went straight to the password page..

I don't know how you managed that? Did you follow all the installation instructions found in the first post? You have to change some things to get it all working. Do this, and you'll be fine. If you wanna change settings, reinstall it. Simple.

Okay, I managed to get it all working, and I have one thing to say.

I'm glad I +Rep'd you. This is brilliant. I've been trying to find a 2.4 emu for ages to shove onto my Windows server. This is excellent, thanks.

Once again Herley's made a great guide and if it doesn't work the reason is that morons (like myself) don't read properly =P.

Hey on Navicat i keep getting "1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)" It used to not say this, and i don't know how to fix it...This also happens alot with ascent - logonserver and ascent - world.

go to MySQL :: MySQL 6.0 Downloads get the new version.. thats what i did i reinstalled and it worked great.

I am still having the problem of d/cing when i try to make a character let me know if anyone has any info.

Have you downloaded the MySQL file, and installed it following the instructions? :P

So I got my server working finally, and none of the bosses work like they were said to be. =( Shame. Not even older bosses in previous patches.

Try deleting your Cache folder in the WoW directory. Reload both logonserver and world.exe and try again. If this doesn't work, try making another account and logging in with that. It should work... if not, I'm not sure what's wrong. :S

Meh, I made a mistake -_- Lol i always make this mistake, Open Ascent-Realms.conf and go to the bottom and change

Address = "127.0.0.18129"

To

Address = "127.0.0.1:8129"

I did this on my last tutorial xD

This will make it where you dont get the all mighty realm loop.

I have never had this problem, probably because i always update to the highest .NET Framework. But that is my guess, Try to get 3.5 .NET Framework and it should work, if not, Report back here and we will try to help

on vista when i finish installing mysql i click the configure box but the window never opens. does any one know how to fix that?
