I am having a critical problem that I shouldn't be having. I run the installed and whatnot, but the desktop shortcut says it can't find the targeted .exe. I searched every folder you gave for en .exe, and there was NONE. I have tried multiple downloads off multiple sources, and none of them give me a .exe anywhere. Probably something that should be fixed, eh?

Been playing around with this for a few days now. I just went out of town for two days and come back to find my character list empty. I tried creating a new character with the same name as a previous one and it says the name is unavailable, but my list remains empty. Last thing I can remember doing is accidently changing one of the files in the dbc folder to open with adobe. It automatically set all the files in that folder to the same setting. I played with it several times after that with no issues so I didn't think any more about it. Now I'm thinking it may have caused a delayed problem. Any idea what the default program is to open those files and where it can be located? Other than that, any ideas on what else might be causing the problem?

Oh... one more thing. During my troubleshooting, I made a new toon with a name different from any of the missing ones, logged in, played for a while, the shut the whole server down. Started back up and the toon is still there.

Also, the character tool (advanced) simply doesnt work. Every time i try to use it for anything it just says that it cannot access the MySQL host. whats going wrong?

What Mirador said is it just broken or somthing I noticed it has no password when you go to modify i tried using 123456 but it still says that error

I seem to be having a bit of a problem, and hopefully somebody here can help me out.

First and foremost, I would like to thank the guys who put this together. This is literally everything I've ever dream of from WoW. Exploring Azeroth without the people and just bots(read: robros) makes it a whole new game.

Onto the problem, everything seems to set up fine until I actually try to start the game. The game will open and I'm taken to the login screen and then one of two things will happen: either the server will go through but disconnect after 30 seconds(I'm lucky to even make it past the character select screen) or it won't go through at all and the only realm available(SingleCore) will appear offline. Upon exiting the actual game, the client seems to have reset and is in the middle of loading the world server. Apparently the server is resetting whenever I'm in game. It stays connected when I'm not running the actual game, so I'm pretty confused.

EDIT: I tried again and once again manged to actually log into the game world for a couple of seconds. In the chat area it's showing an "auto resetting". That seems to be the problem. Anyway to turn it off?

I'm having the exact same problem. I thought it was my firewall, so I installed everything in a Windows 7 Virtual machine, and tried again, with the same issue. Not sure what's going on with this - the first thing I thought was that the VM ran out of memory, but no, it was well within the limits. I looked over the log files as well, but there's nothing about the server crashing and restarting like it was when the VM had 2GB total ram allocated to it - effectively out of memory). It could be something to do with the visual studio 2012/3 c++ libs being updated recently with Windows 8.1 support, or something along those lines. No idea really

I remember finding another guy on conan's blog with a similar problem. Unfortunately I don't think he got an answer.
Is conan still here anymore? Contacting him would likely be the best bit for fixing this problem.

I get the server to work. I can log in and bots appear. However the mobs in human starting area, wolves and kobald are not there. Any help appreciated.

I think this project is dead, if you know how to compile grab the latest version of playerbots on git and add it to your emulator.
