I spent a while figuring out how PHP works mostly diagnosing problems. Turns out PHP never takes strings at face value. Meaning anything passed in PHP that contains something such as a "$" will be taken as a variable declaration. so if you use any passwords or user names that contain any $ they will not return properly.
