some people like me can fix most DB errors we face so why not get a head start?

Going throught the database development throught patches is alot more than fixing most DB errors. It is to find all the new stuff, understand it properly and implent it properly, make a good base for future stuff. If you start "DB error fixes" on this, meaning prolly "creature is missing loot template" etc. You most likely will have to redo them again if the database system changes radically

true but sql is very easy to understand and learn it took me around 8 hours to be able to write a quire for a DB to fix a problem.

"You leaked it, ok" i thought that his phrase would simply it, i don't care did he leak it or not. It doesnt affect me at all. I just want to point out that this stuff which was in there, is semi useless if you are to develop a database, not just do custom stuff and fix a few errors there and there. It's a great start for NCDB, that's good to start continuing on.

But if now like 5 new db projects rise up saying theyr developing wotlk database.. well..

Kishkumen: Yep, it's easy to learn, it's easy to fix some simple things. But doing something new, which hasn't been done before is a whole different thing. It's just not writing queries, 80% of the time spent on doing something like that is thinking on how to do it in a way that it works good.

You don't really get much from retail from WDB's & sniffs. It's alot but nowhere near enough.
Eg. If i'd say that you need to develop and populate player_archiviements table, what would you do? you can't just go to retail, go throught all archi's and get the wdb and magically have an allready table& data

Its for MANGOS and Ascent.

You need a basedb to run the sqls into and then use the web installer.
