The one thing The NIghtmare says that makes sense to anyone with a brain; open source, it's meant to be modified and re-released. Hence the "open". The biggest issue I have with the entire WoW emulator community is this obsession with needing credit, constantly. Yes, it is honorable to say where you ganked your code from if you did not write it... but I imagine the most popular word in this forums index of searchable words is the word "credit". Some of you people are just insane with taking credit, like it somehow makes your lives have meaning.

I understand what you're saying and I do agree that people are asking for credits too much for small stuff like a simple NPC or item made in SQL. But this is not a small sql or lua script, this is hundreds of lines of code, hours of work and testing, so you can't really compare this with the normal "gief credit". And yes it's open source but that does not mean it's OK to take code and then claim it's your own work.

When I load the login server it says "Connection failed due to: 'Cannot connect to Unknown database 'ascent_char'" Any help?

it seems to me this is more of a "beta" then an actual full on release. it will take time to get everything worked out.. just be patient.

.command should get you started on the commands at least. as far as the other stuff. you should know by logging in and trying it out yourself. and if additem command works, thottbot has wotlk items already on there.

You have to execute the database then, change the configs to the name of the database.

BTW, I added update 1 which includes the recent core + major bug fix where if your flag is set to wotlk, you cant go into TBC zones. Also added database only download.

Question: Does the Database have WOTLK content, does Death Knights work and does the WOTLK areas work? I don't have WOTLK yet but getting it today so answers would be helpful.

Yes it includes osme WotLK content and yes death knights would work.. its justhat the player create info isnt right. I will work on that today.

so i load up arcemu-logonserver and word and it says it can't connect the MySQL database 'localhost'

apparently im missing an exe that loads the database. can i get some direction? and how do i add users?

you arent missing a exe. What the problem is that you need to ocnfig your files. Navicate to the folder "Configs" and edit the stuff in there to your information.

How do I execute the DB?

Look for a guide about that. But bacically all you do is execute a file into a program then, change the configs inside the server folder to what the names of the stuff in the program. Shortest explenation I can think of =)

but anyways, there is tons of guides on how to do it on this site.
