Ac Repack is mostly used but isay use 2d's or laturwisk thers are good

You compile the source code, find a database (Like for ascent- NCDB, or MaNGOS- UDB), add whatever custom things you want in there, start server, play.

You don't "need" a repack..
A repack is just a compilation of a source code, with a database, which can be added manually very easily

compiling ascent is kinda hard for a beginner, try using one already built its easier and helps you get a feel for ascent Or mangos etc

the easiest to use is ac-web ultimate repack I think, I use that and it works good even on my 6 years old comp... mall you can add manually in you db.
