Ascent: What now?

i LOVE how people think ascent is dead. Ascent is still being worked on, and burlex is only taking a break.

By the way, mangos isn't meant to be used on live servers. It is only a learning project.

Ascent will be as dead as kobold since it is going closed source... (kobold is 1 / 100 as popular/used as mangos)

I recommend
1) just turning ascent into your own thing..updating yourself
2) mangos (NOT public server)
3) wcell
4) codeserver (WSharp) may become available to the public soon... Codeserver > Home

1) Being closed source, never once open-source is one thing. It usually is not very popular. In some cases yes, it is. Being open source then closed source because of some people who dislike your product, that just SUCKS ASS. He is doing it for all the wrong reasons. IMO

2) Burlex is over-reacting. He has pressure, yes. I've known lots of pressure on myself, and it is hard to deal with. The way he deals with it is very immature IMO.

What about codecraft, lua++, moon++, etc though? They all die from this. All the things that add life to ascent.

couldn't of said it better myself.Gastric I understand what you mean , but right now no server will get any core , even the ones that deserve it. It's like in a highschool classroom where 1 kid acts up and the whole class gets kept in , a lose-lose situation for burlex and everyone else.

Off the top off my head here is some projects/websites that will die if people stop using ascent and there's no emulator

- Emu section of mmowned ( or at least lose popularity , the true educated programmers will not release their cores anyways )

That is called a purchase. The player wants to pay money in exchange for a virtual item / gold on the server.

A donation is giving money out of your kindness to help keep the server alive / support it.

Omen, Emupedia isn't just for AScent emulation...Its for like what 6 different games? With like 3 emulators for each one.

NCDB is making a universal structure...Walla loves drama so I doubt he will even add support for Ascent again.
