[question] internet hosted databases

so I made my own private server and a few of my friends have joined but what I'd like to know is if it's possible to have the databases hosted on the internet as opposed to my computer. That way my server wasn't online one of my friends could host the server and all the settings and characters would be the same. Is this possible?

ya, lots of free web hosting sites give you a couple free databases but they are harder to configure than you think
