realmserver.exe hasnt been used in ascent for long time,
as pr today no ascent rev are using that.

you only need ascent.exe and logonserver.exe.

ahh ok, i have a problem then, as its not letting me connect, its tring to authenticate but it keeps fails.
Nd erm could i just ask, why is it included then? is it needed?
Have i done something wrong aswell? as both files work, is the way of making the server public the same as usual or?

well, its included cause ascent may use it again later.
only i can say, is like i said all the other 1000+ asking the same:

use the guides at mmowned or homepage for ascent (ascentemu.com)
cause i am only delivering support for my own work, that is the database itself,

to make a ascent server is alot of work, for those never done it before,
and takes long time to learn, and i hasnt time for such support, since
ascnt isnt my own work. mostly my days go to take care of
my 3 years old daughter that im 100% alone with.

its a ascent downloaded from mmowned.com

but still you must install mysql servers, apache servers,
making web sites for registering,
install database to mysql, configure it,
configure ascent to run in mysql, and connect to database.


use the guides, there are several guides at internet to make
a ascent server.


i am not delivering support for making ascent servers, since i only make database itself. dont have the time either since making a server takes looong time if you dont know how to use mysql

that is fair ofc i have Mysql set up and the database installed. i just cant get the realm actually going, i will look for the guides on how to do the apache thing.
and i do not need a web page as it isnt aimed for a large community. its aimed for afew real life friends

Knaur, I set up your database and stuff, transfered characters over, Current characters cannot talk, some can if there lucky, new characters & current characters cant learn the languages, the npc say he taught them it but he doesn't, we've tried relogging after learning it, learning it then teleporting then relogging and stuff but we cant fix it, i've even tried making players learn it on character creation but it doesn't work.

well, its for sure not the database, cause that does not happen for any others.
ofcourse some have a language bug now and then, but a teleport fixes that for them, and as i said 1 000 000 000 times before in this thread, skill npc dont train it because all already have them, its just ascent that dont load all, a well known bug for long time.

I also said before that transfering chars from another database will never be supported since that are a easy bug maker, and aint a issue of my database.
you do that on own risk.

also using other mysql servers that version 5 often gives only errors.
like version 6 are complete messup.

anyway. as told before: any issues that isnt made of my database are not
supported. (includes customizing from other db or account systems)

Is there a way to make a guard that only attacks mobs but no players? Like a Stormwind Guard, but also not attacking horde players. For players, the guard should be friendly (green), faction name Silvermoon.

what bug? its no bug. i guess you are using another ascent than
the 2.8 stable rev 2815 that i sent in package

that package included the DLL files that you dont have
skillnpc.dll
citywarpnpc.dll
warpnpc.dll
warpitem.dll


ass those are in the script_bin folder that
came with my database

as i told before: if you use other ascent than the one
database was made for, its on your own risk

try copy those files from my package into your script_bin folder

sylv: use .modify faction xx (where xx are the faction nr you want)

like .modify faction 35 are friendly for all
and .modify faction 1 are ally and .modify faction 2 are horde

alot of numbers to choose in, when you take info on a mob/npc
you will get what faction he is in the info

Having another problem now: My quest works fine until I add a reward to it. Then the game will crash when talking to the quest giver. If the ID of the reward item is shorter than 4 digits, I can talk to the quest giver, but the space for the quest text is empty and I can complete it immediately without doing anything.
