Burlex cant sue since ascent is illegal, their license is kind of void i think.

Ascent is not illegal... It only becomes illegal when you put it with say Blizzards database e.g NCDB.

actually he can sue... ascent itself is not illegal... only the public use of it is...
and i think its good also... cuz there were a lot of noobs stealing ascent source and telling people its their own emu lol ! there is nice topic with one of these cases on ascent forums

think of this: why should you not wnt to share you stuff? yea its a lot of work maybe... but think what work ascent was to make it.. and they share too...
some people are angry becuz they were making money from their development wich sucks if you ask me (only if you use it for good purpose, not private.. then it is ok)

That they needed to switch license just because people is greedy, is just stupid. Some posts below the original thread, some person says something about WoWScape, and how we should steal their source while we can.

I think that this may only lead to a good thing. There is a good reason we have LUA, and MySQL.

Any files that can be used to emulate a client are considered illegal, if prohibited by client's makers.

Anyway blizzard doesn't care and it isn't an issue anywhere so it isn't something to discuss
