Considering a lot of people think of 'public' servers as 'illegal' servers, vis a vie, playing without paying, I doubt people are going to give two flying farts to any rules that the Ascent team lay down.

The Ascent team cant take action against any server that doesnt follow the rules, unless they shut down the SVNs and make closed code releases. In which case someone will just take the final source of Ascent and break into a new dev group.

Ultimately, I cant see this making a difference at all. I can see why it was done, some servers are donator based and this will pretty much (if enforced) destroy them - people will be able to see their modifications and copy them on another server, making the donator server (in respect of core mods at least) pointless.

It's an interesting move anyway.

the most they can do is keep the source from us, but as shown by several mmowned emu specialists, the ascent source code can be modified and dveloped by us, and if neccesary to its full extent.
