    Router Risks. Concerns

Ok... Well i made a non public server i have made a hamachi server and then that leaves a Public Non-Hamachi server... Well i cant open the ports to my router because the person running my network has too much to loose if someone hacks us soo if you can convince him by giving answers to these questions... that may work.

    1. If i was to open the ports needed to have people to connect to my router What are all the things that are vulnerable. And how can i protect myself.
i already read the Topic (The risks of running a private server and how to protect yourself) but my network owner does not want to have to change his password once a week....

    2. Lets say we get the ports opened are these ports things they can hack us with? what is actually going to happen if a hacker gets in. Can they read my Folders and files that may have my bank info in it or finacial stuff? and if they are connected to my compute can they connect to the shared network computers as well?

    3. Is thier anyway to have a Non-Hamachi Server that can hold a good amount of people without opening ports to my router. Or paying for a server of course. And without asking for som1 to host it for me i want to be able to run the server myself...

    4. Are the people only connected to the server itself or can they get through those ports and hack me?

    5. What ports are being opened what are they and why do those ones in particularly have to be opened?

Please provide as much info as you can. Make it so anyone could understand it if possible.. one of the main reasons is cause my hoster wants to be protected and will only do this if he has all the info he needs. if you provide me a good Value of info ill definatly +++++++++Rep

I also need to know. Can people get arround my router ports that i open. also my network owner is considering to open the ports no i made this post a while ago (Couple Days ago but didnt get the info i needed).

Please Provide detailed info on how it works. Dont post your opion like.

Yes its risky and som1 can get in.
    or
No they shouldnt be able to and stuff like that.

I want you to explain it so i can provide more info for my network owner.

Well if you have Anti-spyware like Webroot or Pc-Cillin, those have things that keep people out of your computer, but you need to customize them to allow people log into your server but not into your information.

    2. Lets say we get the ports opened are these ports things they can hack us with? what is actually going to happen if a hacker gets in. Well as i said with Webroot it has shields that prevent people from remote accessing your computer. Plus remote access requires you to allow the person to access your computer, you have to willingly let them in that case. Also if you use a program for billing, its normally heavily passworded and encoded so you dont have to worry.

    3. Is thier anyway to have a Non-Hamachi Server that can hold a good amount of people without opening ports to my router. Or paying for a server of course. And without asking for som1 to host it for me i want to be able to run the server myself...
There is always a risk when you host a server. Just only open the required ports for people to access your server.

    4. Are the people only connected to the server itself or can they get through those ports and hack me?
They are connected to your computer, it is possible for them to hack your computer, but as long as you have Anti Spyware and Virus stuff on your computer, you should be fine. Make sure that you dont open up your DB for people to modify it, my friend got a keylogger because a guy promised to help him with creating stuff, but instead installed a keylogger.

    5. What ports are being opened what are they and why do those ones in particularly have to be opened?
A list of the ports can be found here, in Herleybobs tutorial http://www.mmowned.com/forums/antrix...r-cretion.html

    hope that cleared it up

As for your network provider, tell him/her that it is safe, as long as you are careful you take the proper measures. Dont trust anyone with access to your computer.

Using hamatchi is way worse than using a router with ports forwarded.

Search on youtube for hamatchi hacking

While you are on hamatchi all of your "shared" folders are accessible by other people on the server.
