Host a WoW server off a Domain?

I have 2 hosted domains from 1&1 Internet Inc. - Web Hosting Services and Domain Name Registration

I was wondering if it was possible to host a server off a domain if you have ftp access unlimited subdomains etc.

This is just basic information about the host but please tell me what the requirements would be to do so if its possible, or maybe even a guide to do it.

You could, but blizzard is partners with ALOT of people, it's kinda riskey but you could probibly do it.

this is confirmed. World of Warcraft Private Server are Gray, meaning its border line illegal, although you can't get sued, which is why Aniwow and other servers with 3000+ players online aren't getting sued. You think WoW doesn't know about them?

If you mean hosting ascent/mangos off your webhost, i dought you can do that. Do it off your own computer though, if ascent crashes u could easily restart it, as well as onfiguring and putting files in the core easily.

Im currently hosting one off my computer with about 10 players yet its hamachi becuase I dont feel like forwarding the ports, i have one port forwarded for my old CS:S server but you need atleast 2 ports forwarded to have the server run public.. My server used to be ran off my brothers dedicated server.. But he moved out and we dont talk much anymore.. I just set up donations for my server and hopefully If I make enough $$ I can get a cheap dedicated server. Even though it really wouldnt be needed for this many players.. But were growing

You can get sued, Even if you think, that is impossible... They can, If you read the terms of use carefully... You will notice that you can get sued, Because... Blizzard earns 10$ from every player, On a private server with 3000 players, that is completly free, Blizzard loose 30 000$ . And that is pretty much, I think blizzard is ready to sue someone. But remember... Blizzard need to investigate, talk with lawyers and much more, it's a long progress... but if they want... They will!

- Boxes to Run the servers
- thousands of employess: GM's, technical support etc..
- T3 connections
- Multiple Commercials on Television
- Advertisements everywhere else

Trust me all those adds up to alot, especially the employees, their coders, game designers and maintenance people cost the most.

I can confirm that you can host a server with a registered domain name. My server is YourUniverse.org WoW

I use a program found on no-ip.com.
