Cant validate game version =( need help

Hey guys recently i wanted to start my private server back up again. I decided to get whole new one...New repack, New Database, new everything. I know I am using one of Chrispeee's repackes.

Im not sure if i need to do repair for my wow or if it is a problem that i need to fix on my own somehow.

The problem is when I try to log on to wow (on the private server WITH the realmlist in the folder) I get this message.

"Unable to validate game version. This may be caused by file corruption or the interference of another program. Please Visit http://us.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleid=21370 for more information and pssible solutions to this issue."

Any help would be great, id like to get my private server working again.

Try this: Go to your ascent folder (or w/e you got) and open up the logonserver.conf file in notepad and scroll down and edit maxbuild= 9999.

That worked for me, I hope it works for you.

(make sure you backup any files you alter)

Second of all , if your using a private server , you modify the accepted client version needed to enter you do it in the logonserver.conf


This is in logonserver.

<Client MinBuild = "6739" <--- Minimum it must be
MaxBuild = "9999"> <-- Maximum the version must be

I aint any moderator, nor am I going to try to do the moderator job, but, I am sure that they wouldn't be to happy with off-topic stuff, like this, and what we often can see above.


For, the problem, which is already solved.
The unable to validate version message is shown when the client submits its patch info, and it does not match what the server will accept. There aren't really any other way to bypass it, then by changing the max/min allowed patches in the logonserver.conf, or by managing to "hack" your client, and fool it to think it is at another patch. Hmm... Imagine a 1.33.7...

Oh well, I hope that what I wrote made atleast some sence.

Why dont you have a little cry about it, you might feel better.

I was simply saying thank you to someone who helped me, and if someone else has a problem in the future, then this will show up nearer the top of the search results.

You have to also understand, that its a bit contrary to say you dont like posts being bumped for no reason, when your post, too, served no reason.
