The maps folder

Today i tryed to move the maps folder from my ascent folder to another one.
And my server startet up fine and i played and nothing was diffrend.
So my idea is do you need your maps folder auctally?

yes you do need it... try to login on the server that started without maps

i just logged in and evrything was normal (yes with no maps)

hmm maybe ascent still finds the maps folder or something... check the ascent console... do you see him loading maps?
cuz i am sure if you dont have maps you will have client crash when loggin in...
(missing maps problems posted randomly on emu question topic)

i think ascent comes with teh maps...and tyou only have to extract them to get exp. from exploring

Acsent is so uber it dosent need maps! Seariosly no... as latwurski said the server maby finds the maps anyway if you move it somewhere else!

the maps folder has all the Maps from Retail WoW, that means, if you start your Server Without the maps you will notice, that when you get to a new Zone, you
wont Disccover it, if you HAVE mapes when you get to a new zone, you will Disscover it
That is what the maps are for

Also, running without maps leaves you with potential graveyard ressing that was a problem not that long ago.
