    Blizzard Detecting?

    I'm curious.

I have a private server that me and some RL friends screw around on. But I also have a character on the live servers that I frequently raid with.

Now, I don't wanna keep my friends from having fun while I raid.

If I have the server running in the background, and I'm on the liveservers, can blizzard detect it, and potentionally ban me?

    Re: Blizzard Detecting?

Blizzard uses a spyware program called "Warden". Its the "best" spyware there is, because its 100% legal.

If Blizzard wanted, they'd ban everyone having emulators on in the background. Takes them 1 hour of programming, MAX, and then, Warden will be programed to look for the emulators.

Then, You'd be banned under 20 seconds.

So, thought they do not ban you for it now, I would recommend you to NOT do it, Blizzard may update warden at ANY time.

There are some programs to stop Warden tho, not sure at how effective it is...

Also, from what I've heard, or, really what an GM "accidently" said, they only got the chat logs for 2 weeks.

So people, UNDERSTAND what you guys are talking about, before telling about it.

That was specialy said to you Vairniss.

But, for now, its not really a big reason to be scared, altho, to be 100% safe, do not have emulators on in the background.
FOR A MOMENT, NOTHING HAPPENED. THEN, AFTER A SECOND OR SO, NOTHING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN.

They are in charge of your account (on live servers) and can do anything with it at anytime, with or without reason. It is said so in the Terms of Agreement toward the end.
I suggest that you don't, BUT, I do it anyways. (lol)

This is quoted from the WoW EULA:

It is against their terms and they can ban you for it. SO just don't get caught. Do not run the programs at the same time as u connect to blizzard's servers.

    its simple...

    Re: Blizzard Detecting?

    The software IS fully detectable.

However, SWL servers are completely legal and they have no way in telling exactly what info that server is conveying and reading from.
