I'm setting up a server and I'm in need of a good C++ developer.
I'll explain a little bit more about the server but if you feel like debating why not making a thread about this or sending me a private message ? I'd prefer not to flood this thread.
The server :
It's going to be focused on PVP but what I want to bring is the permanent death aspect. Yes, it's very rarely seen in MMORPGs of nowadays but that's only because the game designers are clearly not as competent as their developers or graphic designers. That's not because it's impossible. Although I clearly aim at a server where you aren't forced to be playing a lot to be competitive (but for those who like to farm, it's still totally possible). I explain that in order to avoid some poor arguments that people might want to write here.
Players are going to fight in an open world PVP only. Being in a guild would mean so much more in this dangerous world, and politic may become part of the game.
Most of the content (PVP) will be brought to the players BY the players because I will give them a lot more freedom than what is actually being seen in WOW (and most MMORPGs too) and thus mostly by removing some of the limits a player can experience ingame.
A little sample of the features to catch your attention :
1) Horde and Alliance speak all the same language and they can speak in the general chat altogether. They also can group together and run instances (but instances are really not important).
By the way, there is no factions for players, they can kill each other at any time, beware the betrayals.
2) No Battlegrounds at all, no Arenas, it kills world PvP and it's boring as hell. Also it kills the whole concept. You won't be able to train yourself in those BG but you may find other ways to.
3) You have only 1 life and everybody can loot your corpse, steal ALL your gold and ALL your stuff you have on yourself. Dying means you'll also lose special recipes you learnt for example.
4) Rework and balance of some classes (especially rogues, hunters and druids to lessen their PVP advantage like stealth, tracking humanoid etc...).
5) Players can still resurrect others but it will be reworked, spells will be balanced etc... and if you die for too long, bye bye.
The "job" :
It will require to modify core systems pretty much, or add new ones I invented. On a smaller scale, it will also require to edit the client and especially DBC.
I can't pay actually so it will be voluntary work but my systems are original so it may be a challenge to help me with those, and I don't think it will take a huge amount of time to complete what I need. Also you may be interested in building a server with such a strong concept as it always failed before (in private WOW server world).
