    [Discuss] PS In-Game Development Tool

Hi there. I recently got the idea to start developing a program that would allow private servers developers/designers to easily place/move/remove Game Objects and NPCs while in-game. By example, with this tool it will be possible to select objects and npc's in-game and move/rotate them very simply using the in-game cursor. Those change would then be saved to the server, making the things you placed visible for everyone else.

I have a pretty good idea of how I will be getting this feature live, and I already started working on it. However, I need suggestions of other features/improvements I could bring to this tool. The main reason why I'm coding this tool is to make developers life easier. Placing objects with the cursor instead of placing your character at the wanted location will make content development a lot easier and faster.

For those who are interested, the first "beta" versions to be released (I can't provide any date yet) will target TrinityCore for 3.3.5a as this is what I'm currently using to make this possible. In the future, I plan making this compatible with most WoW versions and Cores.

Here's a quick and simple video showing my current done work, check the youtube video description for some more information. The red light effect is something I'd like to add to show what object is currently selected and which objects are not saved yet, ect. We can pretty much add any wanted color with it.

What do you think about the idea? Do you have any suggestions? Feel free to give any comment!

    Thanks, DrakeFish

Agreed an Amazing Program, If you wouldn't mind maybe having some help I wouldn't have a problem joining in. I've had free time on my hands considered a recent lift in responsibilities. So me and my laptop have had some play time. Contact me
    Main: [email protected]
    Personal: [email protected]
I receive email on my phone so responding is anywhere from 15 - 25 minutes

    ADD:
I could also help port this to ArcEmu for those who enjoy ArcEmu instead of Trinity or Mangos

Been long since I played on a private server, but that looks utterly amazing. Can't wait to see its progress.

Here's a small update on the tool. I've been re-working a bit the classes I coded so the program will be even faster when there are a lot of objects to compare. There is still a lot of work to do before this is a releasable program, but so far I'm not facing so much problems (even though I am facing some problems with the GameObjects rotation, but I will most likely find a way to fix this in the future). After a bit of thinking I got to the conclusion that the program will be using direct Database access to save the modified objects. The user will have to enter the db information in a settings panel before to be able to save modifications. This way, it will be easy to support all emulators =).

I recorded the following video with fraps, that's why we can't see the right-click menu (it's the same menu as in the first video). As you can see, I added NPC moving support, and it is now possible to rotate them. I'm using the Mouse Scroll to rotate them in this video, each scroll will change the rotation value by 0.1f (I will probably make this a setting later for those who want more precision ) .

could you make this more complex by adding NPC editor / creator, speech, commands, and quests? <3
