    [Poll] Remove Moderated Releases

How does everyone feel about removing the Moderated Releases for the emu section? Removing this would bring down most of the rules put in place for 'acceptable' releases. I believe that the emu community should be able to converse with one another and help each other. No more rep farming, no more flames.

Now, this doesn't mean that we as moderators will let any release slide through. If there is something we feel is incredibly bad, I propose that we close those threads (instead of deleting with some stupid message) and provide input so the owner can improve said release.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

In my opinion, there are good sides and bad sides, you keep out the trash posts by deleting them before anyone else can see them, keep out the wrong section ones, or move them to the appropriate section and then show them.
This does stop leechers from farming rep in a few ways, by preventing reposts, or re-releases of other peoples work.

The only down side is that you have to wait for your real release to be approved which in my experiance can take from 1 day to 5 days.

I think it should stay to be honest, to keep out the trash.

In my opinion, the way things are handled currently works. Unless the moderators can't keep up there's no real need to remove the moderation.
However, while the observant people read the stickies I can only assume that you guys who moderate the threads get a lot of double posts, questions, etc, concerning why or why not their thread was posted. It gets repetitive and a hassle after a while doing it on just a few people, why not let the users report the threads instead. I'll vote yes for the time being.

I like how you can close the threads instead. Closed threads will disappear within time but at least the original poster and those who view it afterwards can, hopefully, learn something from it.

As much as I hate to force you to work (that was a lie), I think the rule should stay. Ground Zero said what I think better than I could have said.

I would like to suggest to leave it at moderator approved for below contrib rank. Most people with contrib don't just post random crap to get more rep.

I suggest you leave it as it stands, but perhaps do some section re-evaluation - especially on the moderated rules.
Things like website releases that DIRECTLY CORRESPOND WITH EMULATION (player tools, registration pages, ect) should be allowed. Standard 'websites' (with changed logos and text for emu servers) should still be banned, and posted in the HTMl section of MMOwned.
As well, perhaps getting more of the other MMOwned moderators (maybe someone like Dragonshadow?) to learn some emulation and pitch in with the moderating of this section. I am not saying you aren't doing a good job - you're doing a fantastic job. But this would leave you not focusing 100% on this, as the emulation moderators, but allowing you to work on other things of the emulation section that require more of your focus. You know what I'm talking about.
As well, perhaps the Emulation Expert group should be re-evaluated, as well? Not the members - thats been done numerous times already - but perhaps what they do. Maybe allow them to bypass the release moderation, or, aid with the moderation in the emulation sections (things like closing flaming threads, or approving releases, things like that.) And maybe have more 'official' threads done by the Emulation Expert group as a whole, like MMOwned Official Emulation Releases. Thingsl ike that.

Well, those were my few cents.

IF you ignore the above suggestions though, I suggest that you remove moderated releases.

Hellgawd i like that idea. I would love to see websites DIRECTLY relating to Emu come back(Hellgawds examples) MMOwned Official Emulation Releases would be great to see to.

Take it off, and just delete the spam threads. Mods shouldn't be the judge of good content imo.

The final decision will be made by next Tuesday. Please give us some good reasoning to backup your decision (not that you haven't already done so)

If you do take it off then you could be overwhelmed with reposts, simpler than simple boss fights and broken scripts that get released.
If you keep it on then you have the same things that people moan about now.
In terms of what Hellgawd suggested in the emulater expert group getting more to do, I'm not entirely sure that is a good idea in the fact that a lot of the emulation group requirements are not enforced and people will see this as being corrupt. If you did go ahead with this I would suggest to actually rewrite what a emulation expert is and what they are expected to do, and enforce the requirements strictly; as this way they would more be more like a community helper than what they do at the moment (not saying change the title).
Bringing in a "mmowned official releases" will result in a lot of the community not being able to contribute unless you give them a way to submit there work and you choose whether it's good enough. Also I doubt it would remain up to date due to the previous 10,000 things that are supposed to be updated (e.g: monthly emulation update, weekly update from newsteam).
Either way whatever you do people will still moan, it's life.

I definitely vote 'yes' to this, not because Its to slow or anything, just I agree with sounddead, mods shouldn't be the judge of whats good and bad, some mods could be biased. Also alot of people when they post a release they may need to change something, like right after cause they accidently messed up, and they won't get to see that til like the morning, or later. Alot of stuff could go in favor of removing it.
