    Repacks are an extremely resourceful tool for individuals who want to enjoy the emulation world. I started with a repack and after a while realized I could do better over a year ago. But that doesn't mean I haven't learned from others mistakes, or learned from their perfections. In fact I've been able to migrate the knowledge and never have issues updating.

    Of course I do my own compiles but when it comes to databases, sometimes it's just a simple query flaw with sql updates. I wouldn't know that if I hadn't had the opportunity to mess around with hundreds of repacks, patches, etc.

    Furthermore I look on the people who give out repacks as being kind hearted. I realize people have issues learning what to do properly or following one of the thousands of guides out there, they will need help and yea they'll bitch. But in the end they just might be grateful and anyhow who cares. The overall result of sharing and combining will eventually result in paramount achievements.

    I learned with no repack. At the time I didn't even know where to get a repack and thought the idea was stupid. ^^

    I started with a repack. Then I quit. Then I became a GM of a private server. Then I owned.

    Repacks seem so boring, I would rather do the work myself, its fun to me, I LOVE scripting.

    If you can't follow a guide/video on how to compile yourself, then you don't deserve to operate a server.

    i started using a repack years ago. since then i have learned allot and keep implementing my own changes. since then i have got the source code for the repack i use so i can alter it to fit my needs. i am not out to have a popular server. myself and a hand full of others play on it. i like it this way. repacks have their place. i tried setting up an everquest emu years ago before this and it took me forever because i didnt know what i was doing and the guides were not very good. so a warcraft repack was a blessing. installed with little imput and was able to play with in an hour. days i spent trying to figure out everquest..i shudder at the memory.

    Benefits of Compiling your own server are far better than just using a repack.

    Such as:

    +Much more stable
    +Able to add C++ scripts
    +Able to say, Damn I actually did this!
    +Helps you learn to become a better Host!

    I think its much better to Compile, Repacks are for lazy people!

    (no offense)

    <3 Clain, also i would like to add, repackers think they are C++ coders if they know to compile. Repacks are good for users that want to explore stuff, like on sandbox, but for non hamachi or big servers they are fail!
