Been Threatened by Hackers? Post here!

Have you ever been threatened, or even hacked, by so called "Hackers"?
If you have, post your stories or problems here. I will help you solve them, crush the hackers, and we can work together as a community and pool resources and information needed to piece together the puzzles about these hackers. There are certain ones that reappear over time- these are the most dangerous, and we need to stop them.

My name is Riizu, and I second this motion. Seriously though, this is a problem, and we as a community need to squash it.

I think good action would be call your local police station and ask direction.

Also you could try this Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Home

The IC3 can not always help with everyones problems - they have more important things to do then help some kiddie's server.

    I support this idea.
-- But I am the kind of guy that hacks the hacker back and then posts their info on hacker forums.

Tell us your ways to 'crush' these hackers on certain situations. Why dont you start by your own experience with them.

Let me emphasize the importance of taking security measures when dealing with web services. Especially ones which, when misconfigured, become an entry point for 'hackers'. Take your time when making your server. Read your config files. Use common sense. Hardening your system may take a while, but it's totally worth the effort.

i feel my post should not have been deleted it was far from a flame and how it came across as one i am not sure, i had made a legitimate point. you would have considerably less hackers if you took a few steps towards actually understanding what it is you are doing, it is imperative that you understand how to properly implement safety measures when creating and maintaining a server as thespidey pointed out. very often, the so-called hackers will exploit a very obvious mistake in your system that could have easily been prevented.

i also doubt the usefulness of a thread where people simply talk about the big-bad hackers, perhaps a thread detailing common security flaws and mistakes in configuration would better serve your purpose in helping people stop or prevent hackers.

Well for those who don't have that many security measures in place,

Find the players account, ban it, chuck his ip on ban, go through your firewall and put it through ban as well, if he keeps coming back, just keep doing it, his going to get tired to having to change his ip over and over.

Another tip for people is to watch who you trust, this is the internet, the unexpected can happen, people can turn on you in a second and you can have little to no warning of this. This is not like real life where you are able to tell by how someone says something, you must watch, research, and act as you have found about people on the internet. People do lie. It is as simple as that, its only easier for them over the internet.

I will report here. And i got more than I was hacked.
My server was breached by a hacker who calls himself "Illidari" various times over the last year and a half. I believe i posted a thread on him and attacks and i will link to it lemme search and ill edit in. he uses remote access to the database and server application to remotely execute scripts causing thousands of npcs to spawn near game masters and administrators. i believe various other servers here at mmowned have been hit but as i said lemme search for my thread

    EDIT: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/emulat...must-see.html?
please check out if your server has been experiencing spawns all over the place, even if you THINK it was one of your gms, that's what he makes it look like, its why he usually attacks gm servers if he finds the, because it creates cover and creates conflict between administrators and gamemasters

Equ1N0X, I was hacked by that person was well, but I just IPBanned him once and I got him to stop, lulz. It was a long time ago.
Another famous hacker is "Iceman", who often works with "Markillion". Both have been banned from MMOwned for whatever reasons (both still skulk with various other accounts... -_-) and they are high security threats.
Main thing I suggest is, take the security measures before you open your server, like TheSPidey said, and make sure you use a secure web interface.
