How would you deal with him?

This isnt a problem that is effecting me, its happened once before but I managed to sort it, BUT how would you sort out a hacker on your server who keeps changing his IP?

Personally I like to play with hackers before I get rid of them, but not many come back after the first ban.

Keep banning him....he can't live that long , he will get bored from re-creating account's.

Personaly when your a determined hacker, then your going to keep going. I once had a reason to keep going and I did. Did shut down the server in the end.
My advise would be to if he's hacking your vent, but accounts on the vent. Make people email you for an account.
If he's hacking you in game, thats hard to stop. If you ban his account he makes a new one, if you ban his ip he changes it in the blink of an eye. If your banning variations of the same ip always, try blacklisting some of them. If there at random, he's probably using proxy firewall or something. Try pinging him back, he will lag to much to be able to do anything. You just have to keep getting him back till he stops, but theres no gurantees he will.
Also keep your database on localhost, the server I hacked kept using a mangos website called 'minimanager' and that was so easy to hack. once you were in you could run quires into the database and all sorts. You can do the same to the database through other means. Keep secure.

you could just keep banning any new accounts he makes and not just by IP. I would also have some fun with him, get a hold of a flood server of some sort and just DoS his connection. set it to like 24 hours or something then if he comes back just ask him if he really wants to continue his hacking. 6):

Freakzone Incase you didn't understand....He keeps creating a new account and changing His IP...which means if you ban his account he will make another. If you ban his IP he will change....and make another account...So....That wont work.

on topic, no, there is no way to stop him if hes behind a router.

he can change the wan ip at any time, almost every router has the option to override a MAC address, so even if you where to spoof his MAC address and add to your ban list, it would be useless.


lastly, is this a normal speed/flying hacker? or is he exploiting?

My advice if someone is creating massive amounts of accounts:

Take the account creation page down for 30 minutes to an hour. Cover it up saying there are technical difficulties. While the page is down, ban all of the accounts and IP's. That will buy some time, and the hacker will leave.

Yep that is a good thing to do just close downl account registration for like 1hour or few hours if possible... ban all his accounts and he will leave evantually

On forums I moderate the best way to deal with these types is the "miserable user hack", shame there's not something similar for emulators. With the forums it has a chance of sending them a page stating a timeout, loading the wrong thread, etc... It makes it seem as if the site is having issues, and usually they feel like they accomplished something and move on to another board.

Somebody needs to write it into an emu to give random "world server is down", "cannot create new account", "cannot login", retrieves random wrong characters, etc...
