    [Discuss] Sqlyog or Navicat

Whats better? It's the big question.

When I first came to the WoW emulation community I used navicat because i was a noob who did not know how to open cmd. All I did was follow guides word to word... and still get it wrong. Since then I know I have proggressed a lot, and I switched from sqlyog from navicat simple because I wanted to try out something different. When I executed a 1gig file into navicat it took 3 hours while in sqlyog 20mins. Now from what i've heard this is what I've got together:

    Navicat-
    Advantages:
    - Easy to use
    - Simple
    - Self explanitory

    Disadvantages:
    - Very slow
    - Can be frustraiting
    - Random errors that don't explain anything (well i found this)

    Sqlyog

    Advantages:
    - Very fast
    - Easy to manually execute queries
    - Easy to read errors and fix

    Disadvantages:
    - Cant open tables like "Creature_Loot" as theres simple to much and it crashes generally
    - People find it confusing
    - Have to edit max packets for huge files (one time only)

So what do you think? I'm quite biased as you may have noticed.
Discuss, tell me what you use and why, go go go!

    User Comments:
    Sqlyog
    - Bad Interface
    - Confusing
    - Same as navicat if you get used to it
    - Less users so less help?
    - Hedi because greed said it's ftw (good argument?)
    - Just use both? x3
    -
    Mass Production
    Navicat
    - Easy
    - View tables fast
    - Get mixed up sometimes when executing querires
    - Same as sqlyog if you get used to it
    - More users so more guides?
    - Just use both? x3
    - Poor support
    - Data transfer easily
    -
    Proper quality handicraft
    - Better GUI
    - Supports Oracle 10

I personally use Navicat. I think it is simple enough to use. But if you import your queries the right way it can be just as fast. Navicat is also good if you use Oracle 10 instead of MySQL 5.1 because Sqlyog doesn't offer support for that

I prefer Navicat, SQLyog is kinda dumbly setup, you can't view tables like you can in navicat, if you could then i would probably use it, but seeing as it doesn't, i'm not going to use it.

i use navicat because it exports to xcell easy and back. but does anyone else have a big problem with it importing information in bad. like if there are allot of zeros in columns it tends to confuse the column with another with zeros and the info gets screwed up. i would stop using it but i do allot of mass editing and import export works well enough.

i use Navicat, easy to view table data good User Interface, when there is already an entry in your db and it comes up with dup entry u can easily see where it is sqlog just says something bout rowcounts affected etc.

I personally think the User Interface on Sqlog is ugly and frustrating

I use MySQL CLI for importing big SQL files (it's fastest) and when using the SELECT statement, and navicat for quick edits in a table.

I started off with navicat. It has been working great ever since I started using it, so I haven't had ant reason to change to another.
