Why do people prefer to vindictively rate down posts they disagree with?
Why can't they graciously rate up opinions that give food for thought?
What happened to do unto others as you would have them do unto you?

Discuss. In this particular thread..I will allow flaming, since thats what I'm hoping to see, really..

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, was obliterated when the invention of, glass screens in which we can hide behind and not get punched in the face, was first released.

i think he means computer screen. as one can say things and hide behind the fact that he is protected by being anonymous, to an extent. and that he feels empowered by this, and can do things, such as flame a thread, and not suffer a consequence. i think?

but i dont understand why people must relentlessly voice their negative opinions on something, and yet they never do give positve opinions to the same extent. i suppose people feel excited when they flame a post, as they feel superior, and that gives them a thrill. i do try to give rep as much as i can to posts that deserve it, hoping that will encourage others to do the same.

yea i agree with kelat, see many people here probably dont stick up for themselves IRL because of the fact that people can take action against it in various ways lol, but here on the net you can flame some1, and pretty much get away with it without gettin sh*t from people etc.

1)Makes them feel smart.
2)Makes them feel superior.
3)Makes them feel as though they can do what they want with no consequences.
4)They cant think of anything positive to say and want attention.
5)They are jealous of the fact they couldnt think of that on their own.

the only time i flame somebody is when:
a) they flame me first
b) (wouldnt really call this flaming depending on how dumb it was) when somebody makes a dumb post where they might have done alot of things wrong and im in a bad mood.
