Remote connection to DB

Hey, me again...

Need some help, I want to connect to my friends DB, we're both server admins.

She has HeidiSQL, and when i try to connect through navicat, obviously, it says i don't have permission.

What would she have to do, to enable me access?

I have done searches, but not really found anything that i understand.

HeidiSQL, navicat... doesn't matter. It's both MySQL editors.

Did your friend create a DB account for you, or did you try to connect with the MySQL password?

If the first one, she needs to put your IP adress as the "IP" when she creates your account.

She hasn't created an account yet.

Basically, she installed Heidi, as normal, and then installed the DB into it.
So, it's basically... stock... if you get what I mean.

How does she create an account? (sorry if i'm a bit newbish, i'm learning. ;P)

The username, password you using now, is this the ones she used for MySQL?

And is the host the DNS/(hamachi) IP? And if it's DNS, are you sure that the server is correctly up?

Yeah, same user, and pass.. root and [pass]
It's hamachi ip, the host, so that's all fine.

I think all i need is permission to access it, yes?
And sorry, you are probably explaining, i just don't understand - hehe, where does she create an account, heidi, or mySQL, or..?

Oh, I've found manage users in navicat.. so, I'll tell her to look in heidi

I think I just found the problem (can a movie effect you? Watching Legend of the Drunken Master, break atm).

When she installs MySQL, and writing in what password it should have (config wizard thingy). She needs to enable check a box called "Enable Remote Access". I think this may be the problem.

In heidi just go to manage accounts and create a new one
