Private Server Questions

Hey, i named this just thread just Private Server, because i just got this idea that i want to start one, but i have some questions...
Is Mangos good? How many players can i have on a Mangos server? and can i get it public without hamachi?

And well how do you think i should set up my private server?
Ascent, Antrix, ArcEmu or Mangos?


Please answer theese questions here, or if you want to help me setup the server completely, with a website etc, please add [email protected] to msn...

I understand some of theese questions are pretty noobish, well i am a noob.
I also hope that in the future this thread can be googled up by other noobs like me, and then they don't have to ask those nooby questions.

I would recomend for the moment ArcEmu or AspireCore, I have never myself tryed Mangos so I wont say anything about that core. But Reborn Emu is getting good

You can get it public without hamachi whatever you use.

Well i am trying ArcEmu and i found this 2.4.3 tutorial on youtube... Everything works when i let the configs be, and play on a 127.0.0.1 realmlist, that's my computer, so that's not public i know. I messed around with it last night and well i tried to find some addons... MangAdmin doesn't seem to work? When i try to search for items or skills anything, it doesn't show anything and when i use several commands it says i don't have permission to use it OR it is not a valid command...

Well that's the addon part, then onto the public part
I can't seem to get my private server to go public so people not on my network can connect. I think its my configs, so could you please e-mail me or post your configs here? Anyone? I am not sure its my configs so i took a screenie of the errors i get, and also the background MYSQL thingy which i was told to launch along with my private server in the youtube tutorial.
Yes, i have fixed DynDNS which is orcgasm.game-host.org and yes i have forwarded all ports..

I know you did choose Arcemu but I answer anyway to your first question:

Yes MaNGOS is good. Most of the people started with ascent so they don't know much about MaNGOS, that's why they always recommend arcemu/ascent/same-other-emulator-with-90%-code-from-ascent instead. If you compare some noobish mangos server on wowstatus.net with WoWScape, one of the biggest and most updated(?) private servers and play for a while (leveling up to 70 or something), you will notice that WoWScape has a lot more bugs than the "noobish" mangos server. Maybe WoWScape has a better anticheat system since they focus more on that, but most of the features works in MaNGOS, like heroic mode in instances, all battlegrounds and arenas (with patches that will be added soon to the SVN) etc.

So don't always listen to people saying "ascent is better". Thats ONLY because they never tested it, or if they have tested it they maybe did it two years ago when mangos had bad stability and don't understand that they can improve a lot with all their 25+ developers and hundreds of patch givers. Or it's just because they can't script in C++ and must use Lua OR because ascent has more ingame commands. But as an admin you should care about the players and not your ****ing commands.

Answer to your second question: That depends on your computer, your internet connection, your operating system and even your config settings. So give more information about that. And yes, of course you can host a server without hamachi. It has nothing to do with that.
